「エラスムス」（1469年～1536年）
オランダ・ロッテルダム生まれ、貧しいなかに神学校で学び、その後、仏・英・独・伊の各地で研究を重ね 「愚神礼賛」等、多くの著書を世に送り出すなど中世ヨーロッパの人文学者として活躍した。
「エラスムス像」は、デ・リーフデの船尾に船の守り神として設置されたものである。
Erasmus (1469～1536) was born in Rotterdam in the Netherlands. He was poor, but received education at a theological school and studied in France, England, Germany and Italy. He published many works such as 'The Praise of Folly' and became one of Europe's best known humanists of the Middle Ages.
"The statue of Erasmus" was set up at the stern of 'De Liefde' as a guardian angel.
